Paper Receipts + Fertility

Just say no thank you to that paper receipt! As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, bisphenols, such as BPA and BPS, have been shown in numerous studies to be linked to disrupted hormones, infertility, birth defects, cancer, and attention disorders.

Candles + Fertility

When the weather is changing, candles can be a special way to create a cozy, warm ambience. Unfortunately, studies find that most scented candles can cause considerable indoor air pollution. The majority of these products have been found to produce significant levels of formaldehyde, a known ‘human carcinogen’ linked with cancers. Candles and air fresheners also contain toxic chemicals such as phthalates and paraffin.

Why Using Non-Toxic Menstrual Products Matters

Whether or not you’re trying to conceive, toxins and chemicals have no place in or on our bodies. For women that menstruate, if we use conventional pads or tampons we are regularly exposed to carcinogens and endocrine disruptors, including parabens, phthalates, bisphenols, glyphosate, pesticides, triclosan, chloroform, and more. Over a lifetime, this amounts to years of toxin exposure just from our menstrual care products alone.

Warm Feet When TTC

In Chinese Medicine, the temperature of your feet is related to the temperature of your womb. When you have warm feet, the energy meridians that are connected to the lower body, including the uterus, are kept warm. This warmth creates proper blood circulation, which is critical for an embryo to implant and grow.

Red Light Therapy For Fertility

Have you tried red light therapy? Red light therapy (also known as light therapy, photobiomodulation, and LLLT) uses low levels of red and near infrared light to treat a variety of conditions.

Drinking Healthier Wine

As someone married to a European from a wine region, the occasional glass of wine along with a weekend picnic is an important part of our family downtime. Of course, when it comes to trying to conceive, I very rarely partake in that aspect of our family’s weekend tradition. Although some doctors say when trying to conceive it’s safe to have an occasional glass of wine during the first half of the menstrual cycle (before ovulation), abstaining is considered the safest approach. If you are someone that still needs your every-so-often glass of wine, an important factor that should be considered is the quality of that wine.

What Are Microplastics?

If you’ve been following me for a minute you already know I’m a huge believer in reducing the amount of plastic in our lives. It’s important to protect our health, our fertility, and the planet.

But what the heck is this relatively new term microplastics?

Tylenol & Pregnancy

If you’re like most people, the concept of popping a Tylenol (acetaminophen) or 2 when you have some aches, pains, or a fever feels pretty benign.
